WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (January 16, 2012) – For a record fifth time James Swan was recognized as the Mid-American Stock Car Series Champion. Swan accepted his accolades in front of one of the best-attended MASCS Awards Banquets in recent history Saturday night at the Wintergreen Resort and Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells.

In accepting honors as the top MASCS racer from 2011, Swan reflected on how he and his car owner Brian Holtz had come together and the road they traveled. The road included a rocky 2010 season and a dominating performance through the first half of 2011. Swan rounded out his speech by saying he was looking forward to chasing a sixth Championship.

As the 2011 racing season in the upper Midwest concludes, it is never too early for race teams to begin thinking about the next season.

Part of that preparation can begin at the Midwest Motorsports Racers' Expo, to be held Friday January 6th and Saturday January 7th. This is the third consecutive year that the Expo will take place at the Alliant Energy Center, in Madison, Wisconsin. The event will be held inside the Veterans Memorial Coliseum of the Alliant Energy Complex.

Mid-American's booth will feature, 2011 champion, James Swan's car. There will be a Mid-American informative meeting at 10 a.m.

FORT ATKISON, Wis. (December 5, 2011) – Performance Racing Network play-by-play man Rob Albright will be the keynote speaker at the Mid-American Stock Car Series banquet on Saturday, Jan. 14 at Wintergreen Resort and Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.

Mid-American and Albright will also share insight and host a question and answer session prior to the banquet. The pre-banquet conference will take place at 3:00 p.m. and will be open to the public free of charge.

In following several motorsports trade publications, Albright has kept tabs on Mid-American. He said he sees Mid-American as a great opportunity for the grassroots level racer.

“I see organizations like Mid-American as one of two things,” Albright said. “It can be something to aspire to for those who don’t want to run at the same race track every week and want to race in a highly competitive touring series. Or for others who want to move on in their career and strive for an even higher level, it’s certainly a great stepping stone.”

FORT ATKINSON, Wis. (November 10, 2011) – For the third year running the Mid-American Stock Car Series will give away an engine from B&B Race Engines at thier Awards Banquet. The 2011 banquet takes place Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at Wintergreen Resort and Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells.

To be eligible for the engine drivers will have to meet certain requirements. Drivers will have to have competed in 75 percent of the 2011 MASCS schedule, purchase a membership for 2012 prior to the banquet and commit to running 75 percent of the 2012 schedule. Drivers also must be present to win.

He has given over 50 years to the Racing community in the Midwest and now it’s your turn to give back. This year you can “Walk for Bob”!

Once again, Mid-American co-owner, Julie Strasburg is putting together a team to walk/run around the famed 4 mile Road Course. For the last 5 yrs it has been Julie's pleasure to serve as team captain for the MID-AMERICAN MARAUDERS. Mid-American Co-Owner Julie states, "This year we will be dedicating our efforts and flying a flag at Road America in memory of Bob Schmelzer". Her husband and Mid-American partner Doug states, "I met Bob in 1971 when, in my first year with my own late model, he bought a set of tires for me if I would start racing at his track, Columbus 151 Speedway. He and his family have been our friends for years."

"I have signed up to participate again in the walking group. Not quite ready for the 4 mile run!!" Julie says. "I invite you to join me in support of this great event."

WEST SALEM, Wis. (October 8, 2011) – With the Mid-American Stock Car Series capping off 18 of the last 41 Oktoberfest Race Weekend Saturday nights, history was bound to repeat itself. Increase those chances two-fold when it’s James Swan who has the chance to make history.

Just as he did in 2008, Swan secured both a win in the capstone Oktoberfest 40-lap feature and the overall MASCS crown. It was Swan’s second win at Oktoberfest and his record fifth Championship.

“I can’t explain it. When I started racing I didn’t think I would win a feature,” Swan said. “It took me nine years to win a feature. Now to have five championships in the all-time greatest series…it’s just totally awesome.”

LOVES PARK, Ill. (October 2, 2011) – Having trimmed nearly 90 points off his deficit in standings over the past three races, the defending Mid-American Stock Car Series is just happy to be in the title conversation. He was even happier to be back in victory lane Sunday afternoon.

For the third time in his Mid-American career Lyle Nowak captured a win at Rockford Speedway. With two previous wins in the Spring Classic, it was Nowak’s first time etching his name in the record books as a winner of the National Short Track Championships MTN Dew 75-lap feature event.

“I just love Rockford Speedway,” Nowak said. “Today we had a really good race car and it didn’t fade. It was as good when we started as when we finished today.”

With his win Nowak cut James Swan’s point lead from 73 points to 47 points. Swan’s advantage over Nowak just two races ago was over 130 points.

OREGON, Wis. (September 25, 2011) – No matter what Madison International Speedway has in store for the Mid-American Stock Car Series, Jeremy Spoonmore is always ready to persevere. Spoonmore captured his second consecutive Capitol Classic win at MIS in a wild and caution-marred 40-lap main event.

As has been the case in past races at Madison, James Swan seemed to have the field covered. Swan survived numerous restarts and surged away from Spoonmore and the field each time the green was displayed.

FORT ATKINSON, Wis. (September 19, 2011) – In a season with two lengthy intermissions Mid-American Stock Car Series racers have had plenty of time to rest and recharge for the final three-week run of the 19th season. The series jumps back into action this Saturday, Sept. 24 at Madison International Speedway.

No driver was more prepared to return than Lyle Nowak as he competed in his final weekly race at State Park Speedway in Wausau on Thursday, Sept. 8. Nowak, who is a past winner of the MIS fall race, claimed that all the time off had given him plenty of time to tweak and tune on his Sprecher’s Monte Carlo, and that he may have found a few tricks to make it even faster.

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (August 22, 2011) – This time Travis Rodewald couldn’t be shaken. Rodewald held off the advances of four-time Mid-American Stock Car Series Champion James Swan and three-time champ Bill Prietzel to make his first visit to victory lane in an MASCS event in Saturday’s Dells Duel Part Two at Dells Raceway Park.

“It was a great feeling considering I had to battle with James Swan and Bill Prietzel,” Rodewald said. “Those guys, who have been in the sport for so long, are hard to beat. I ran hard and as clean as I could.”

It was almost a moment of déjà vu for Rodewald. Just last September he was denied his first MASCS win by Lyle Nowak with a last lap pass at the same venue. Although Swan and Prietzel had their chances, an ailing Rodewald’s machine was the still too strong to top in the 40-lap event.

Rodewald was not afraid to admit those thoughts of last season were rolling through his mind. In fact on a lap-seven restart, Prietzel dived to the inside and took Rodewald door-to-door for the next three laps in an attempt to steal the victory.
